August 5 – Mischief Managed

For Sarah the big day had finally arrived! We were up at 6am and out the door by 6:45am to catch the bus from down the road. Or so we thought, after waiting at the bus stop and nothing arriving, we heard a voice from the house across the road saying “No bus, no bus!”; the beautiful voice of an angel, or just a Middle Aged Man that gets up early and decides to be a good neighbour. Thank you Mr. Early Bird! So we walked up the road to catch the other bus, to the train station to get to the next train station to catch our shuttle bus to Harry Potter Studios!

As the shuttle bus took off the Harry Potter music started and intro videos set the tone for a magical day ahead. We were in the first group of the day, it started with a video intro, then the entrance to the Great Hall.

Then we snaked our way around the rest of the tour and spent a total of 8 hours at the studios, just at a leisurely pace so we didn’t miss anything. It was just brilliant seeing the sets, costumes, productions, interactive displays and so so much more. It really showed how big the movies were and how much work and care both cast and crew put into it all. It was really special as a HP fan to have that experience, and for Will he also enjoyed a lot of the other side of the story. There is so much more we could say, but some of our favourite sets were the Great Hall, Gringotts Bank and Dumbledore’s Office. Sarah purchased a little Ravenclaw pin as memorabilia and secretly (not so much now) promised to return to experience the magic again. “Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.” Thank you J.K. Rowling.

We then caught our bus and train back to the house, grabbing dinner on the way back. We spent the evening packing our bags and enjoying Sue and Simon’s company for one last night before we head to Norway tomorrow 🇳🇴
