August 8 – Dinner with a view — Part 2

After having a little sleep in, we had breakfast and headed up Aksla hill to try and beat the rain (and cruise ship passengers) it was 418 steps up to the top and provided a view of Ålesund and the surrounding islands and mainland. We did a little bush bashing to come across some WW2 bunkers and other view points.

By the time we finished, it was starting to get very busy with other tourists and goers. So we headed back for lunch and a lazy afternoon for a while.

After a book and coffee break, we walked to the local op shop (it was quite good, but nothing for us this time) and then did a self guided walking tour of the town. Even though it was drizzling, we still made the most of all the beautiful buildings and local views. We popped into the local grocery shop for dinner supplies and had a lovely home cooked meal of meatballs and potatoes, another meal with a great view! We then packed up the apartment ready for (another) early departure tomorrow.
