August 18 – Ice cream boats and family reunion

Another slow morning with Aunty was a lovely way to start the day.

We then walked to the local church, and paid our respects to those family members that have passed. After a time of reflection we moved onto lighter things.

We tried our luck at the op-shop, and it was a great one for decorating the house but not for specific clothes. If you want a taxidermy reindeer, you know where to go.

We then had an ice cream (we feel like that’s all we do nowadays), and Sarah had an ‘ice cream boat’, a new experiment but quite enjoyable one.

After lunch at home and another round of washing we went out again. We visited Sarah’s Great-Aunt just down the road. We were greeted with much enthusiasm, food and coffee. More family members were present, and great chats were had. There were 4 generations and the dog Mia accounted for around the table and blueberry cakes, which was special to see.

We then reunited with cousin Mika (such a delight!) and Täti Arja. We went bowling which was a fun time, and the scores were such. First Mika, second Will, third Arja, then lucky last Sarah. It must be noted that Sarah got 2 spares to start, but of course seeing as she excels in ‘the fluke’.

We then all went for a walk in Skölsköping, to the lake and in the forest. After a little drive around town, we were dropped off back to Helena’s and enjoyed a meal and sunset on the balcony. We are looking forward to more time with different family members, but will be so sad it is our last day with Helena tomorrow.
