The day started with an early breakfast and Will joined Julian for the walk into town, on a lovely clear day. Once Will was back, we spent some time just chatting on the back patio, everything from cats to the Roman Empire.
We then headed off with Joni and Ingrid for a day out, while the boys were at school, and Joni had his last day off before returning to work. We went to town and had a look at the local library, gardens, shops and streets.
We then went to ‘Bored Kitchen’, for some really great burgers, much to Joni’s delight as he had been looking forward to trying them out because of their new-found fame. Did not disappoint!
We then did a further stroll around town then drove out to Vallby Friluftsmuseum which is an open air museum showcasing the old Swedish life.
We then headed back to the house in time for the boys to be back from school.
We played a quick (and questionable with rules) game of Catan with Ingmar and Ingrid. We then got to quickly meet Ingrid’s mum before being dropped off at the train station. It was sad saying goodbye, but we are sure they will be drawn to the sun in Aus for a holiday soon.
The train from Västerås to Örebro took about 1 hour, which gave us some rest time before the next leg of the holiday.
We were greeted by Sarah’s other cousin, Mattias, at the train station. It was a wonderful reunion, and felt like yesterday they were in each other’s company (although it was 10 years ago!). Mattias showed us to our apartment, which is close to his, then gave us a tour of his lovely home. We had a catch up for a few hours, then headed to the local pizzeria for dinner.
We then went to the shops under the apartment complex, and checked out all the Swedish goods, but just got food for brekky.
We then had a cuppa and more chats, then called it a night, and enjoyed our first sleep in Örebro.
