We had a slow morning after a late night catch up. With brekky (or brunch) with Mattias before Marjatta joined us and soon after Heidi arrived.
Heidi then took us around town and our first stop was Niilas’ school. The education system is very different from Aus, and parents are able and welcome to visit in Primary School. We attended 2 classes and sat with them for the kids’ lunch. We played with Niilas and his friends during the break — ‘the floor is lava’ being a big hit in the playground still. We then walked both the boys home from school (more like they showed us the way home), and had afternoon tea together.
We then went out again with Heidi to visit her workplace, the local newspaper, and meet all her wonderful work colleagues. One in particular was really keen to move to Aus with his family.
We then drove past Kim’s workplace, and Heidi’s old one too. After picking up some Thai food, we headed back to Heidi’s & Kim’s for a late lunch, soon followed by a fika. We then had the afternoon to play with the kids and went and did some bush-bashing in the forest with the bikes.
We all had dinner together, including Mattias and Marjatta, which was a lovely Swedish chicken meal. We then played a bit of chess with the boys and enjoyed watching old VHS tapes (now converted to digital files), of the 80s family events and life. One of the uncles had fashion to die for. After laughing our heads off at the old videos it was time to call it a night, heading back with Mattias and Marjatta to the apartment.
