After thoroughly enjoying our pastries, Tuscan bread and coffee we went upstairs, got changed and jumped in the pool. There wasn’t much sun out but it was still very refreshing. We then had a shower before heading back downstairs for our pasta making class.

Downstairs Francesca and her mother were waiting for us to start the class, and as there was no one else joining we effectively had a private class. We started by making the first type of pasta by mixing an egg into the flour, kneading it and rolling it out, something that looked much easier than it was.

We then set that sheet to dry and were shown how to make ravioli before starting another type of pasta, this time with different flour and just water. Again mixing it in and rolling it out, we then cut it into strips to make Pici pasta.

Once we finished we were given a certificate, it was a lovely touch. Then we sat down and had the pasta we made for lunch! All 4 different types, they were all very good and we are excited to try making them all when we get home.

After being sufficiently full from lots of pasta, we went for a swim (float) in the pool before getting ready to head into town.

We arrived just after 5:30pm and headed to the Jewish synagogue museum, as the town had a large community ages ago. It was very interesting to see the different ways the community life was set out — including kosher slaughtering rooms, ritual bathing rooms, fabric dyeing area and the old original synagogue. There were many historical pieces and information about the community in the museum.

After that quick visit, we then went to two churches to look, and wandered around town for a bit.

Then walking back up to the town entrance and viewpoint to watch sunset and start a time lapse video. It was much more cloudy than yesterday, as there was a thunderstorm coming in. We were able to watch the start of it, and as it progressed into a lightning display. We stayed for about 1 hour then made our way to dinner while the lightning show continued.

Unfortunately the place Francesca recommended to us was closed, so we went to another restaurant down the road for the local pasta — it was quite nice. We topped it off with gelato and a small stroll.

We then headed back to the agriturismo, and just watched the distant storm roll in for a while. It was lovely and quiet in the gardens, just listening to the thunder roll over the Tuscan hills. We had a late night, and were woken very early (maybe 3/4am) by the thunderstorm and rain right over the house. It was quite amazing, but did spook the horses a bit. It was back to sleep once the windows were closed, and ready for another day.
