We were able to catch the 8:15am bus this morning, which afforded us a sleep in and a slow start to the morning. Will went and got a coffee for the road, we then left our bags with reception and headed off to catch the bus. The bus trip to the town, where the walk begins, was just under an hour and had fantastic views as the bus kept climbing. These Italian bus drivers must be some of the best in the world, with hairpin turns and traffic galore, there was no paint job required at the end.

Arriving in Bomerano we joined the many other people walking through the small town and to the start of the path. It started downhill then onto the road before looping around the cliff where we passed some goats and donkeys, from the beginning the views were amazing, looking down at the towns below.

Continuing along the path, we passed a man on a horse, workers in vineyards and each turn revealed a new part of the amazing Amalfi coast.

Arriving at the first viewpoint we took a quick photo and we walked past a bar where Sarah found another donkey.

Further around we could hear helicopters collecting water and putting a fire out that was close to the town we’re walking to, thankfully they had it under control and as we walked around another cliff we could see them in action.

At about the half way point we could see Positano, and as it was starting to heat up, there was plenty of trees and shade which was great.

The rest of the path to Nocelle was very nice, we were in and out of the shade and it was mostly downhill. We had plenty of opportunities to take photos and the path wasn’t too busy.

Arriving in Nocelle, we completed the official walk in about 2 and a half hours, we stopped for morning snacks. Then deciding to go the extra mile, and took the stairs down to the actual town from the trail head. Although we weren’t expecting about 1,500… and we think our calves won’t expect what are coming for them tomorrow either.

As we got to the bottom of the stairs, we walked along the road into Positano, the town was packed, as we snaked our way through the little streets, there were more and more people. Arriving at the beach we walked along to find a free spot and jumped in the water. It was very refreshing after 3 and a half hours of on and off walking, the water was nice and cool, although very salty.

After cooling off we walked up to one of the bars and got a drink each to sit, dry off and chill out for a bit.

We then booked our ferry for our return to Amalfi, wandered over to the dock and waited for it to arrive. As it did, the dock was packed, once we were onboard, the ferry only took 20 minutes to get to Amalfi and we could see the whole path that we had walked along the way.

Arriving in Amalfi we walked around town for a bit, then went four one last swim at the beach.

We then found a place for dinner. We shared our last pizza and pasta in Italy before heading back to the hotel to collect our bags and head down to the dock to catch the ferry to Salerno.

On the ferry ride we had a chat to some girls from America next to us, who were studying in Notre Dame Rome for a semester. It turns out the world is a lot smaller than we think… one of them had a friend that was currently studying at Notre Dame Uni in Freo — where Sarah went!

Arriving in Salerno we walked to our accommodation, checked in and got ready to fly out of Italy tomorrow.
