September 19 – Sleep-ins, jet lag and delays

We enjoyed a sleep in after a late night and broken sleep with our bodies still adjusting to Singapore time.

We then slowly made our way down to the shopping centre for breakfast. Sarah got a boost and Will got a coffee and some pastries.

Returning to the hotel we prepared our bags for the trip home, freshened up and stored our bags at the hotel. With our flight delayed by almost 5 hours to just after midnight, we re adjusted our plans and headed out to Gardens by the Bay.

We caught the train, then walked through the shopping centre again before walking through the gardens to the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.

As we lined up for tickets a couple walked over to offer us tickets their friends hadn’t used. In any other country we would think it was a scam but this local couple was lovely and we sorted the tickets out and saved us a bit of money.

We then entered the Flower Dome, slowly making our way around the huge variety of flowers, trees and plants. There were sections of landscaping dedicated to different regions such as South American, Africa, Mediterranean, Egypt and Australia. The lilium display was particularly stunning, with so many varieties and blooms to see and smell. They also housed boabs and very old olive trees.

After spending about an hour there, we caught the shuttle bus back to the main shops and walked around to find some lunch.

Finding a Japanese place we both had ramen, which was very nice. We then wandered back to the Bay Gardens to go to the Cloud Forest.

Once we entered we wandered around from the main waterfall then continued through some Jurassic Park themed parts to the T-Rex. Then at 4pm the ‘mist show’ began, which created a very ‘rainforest’ like environment, it was nice and refreshing.

We continued up to the top level and slowly made our way down through all the levels from the cloud walk, cavern, waterfall view and down to the secret garden.

After about an hour and a half inside, we made our way out and wandered to the sky trees and supertree grove.

Then making our way back to the station to catch the train closer to our hotel. We then headed into the shopping centre to find some dinner.

In a food court we shared a few different meals then continued around the shopping centre to find Swenson’s where we had an ice cream each.

It was then time to head back to the hotel to collect our bags. We repacked our bags and made our way to the train station, heading to the airport.

Catching 2 trains, we made our way to the airport then caught the skyrail to our terminal. We then got ourselves sorted for colder weather in Perth and waited for our gate to open.

When our gate open we made it through security and boarded our last flight, settling into our seats and ready for the journey home.
